Byzantine was the largest empirethat ever ruled the
Mediterranean. The empire covered more land than the
roman empire, covering parts of north Africa, southern
Europe and all of the Mediterranean Sea. They also had
a lighter side making the greatest pieces of art ever found.
As you can tell the Byzantine Empire had bronze as well
as brains. As you will read the Byzantine Empire had a
stable food supply, technology, art, writing, religion and
social classes. This are characteristics and for every
civilization there are seven.
Food
If a civilization doesn't have a food supply it's not a
civilization. If the town, village, or city has no food
or water then there's nothing to sustain life there. the
Byzantine empireknew this for sure because they had
a very stable food supply. They got their food from
other countries, but mostly from crops . their diet
consisted of vegetables, breads, and meats. Salads
were very popular and they drank water both fresh
and salt
Government
the byzantine empire owned alot of land and therefore
someone needed to own all of that right? there were
twelve rulers in the time of the byzantine empire. their
names were Julian, Paul, Zeno Justinian, Heracles,
Irene, Basil, Alexis, Isaac, Constantine the sixth,
Manuel the second and Vlad. the great empire's
government was very much in tact and functioning
well. the empires and government officials were at the
top of the social pyramid. slaves were at the bottom.
the emperor made all the rules for the byzantine in
his or her time in the throne. but officials were some
what in charge they weren't at the top but they did
rule, mostly making the laws.
Religion
something that the byzantine practiced strongly is
religion. the eastern Catholic church is like the main
religions center for the byzantine. they had many
regions including Catholic. byzantine main religion
is also the religion that most of the empire did
Christina was their main focus. the rulers inforced
that the people go to Christianity instead of other religion. at the orthodox church people practices many different types of religions. in all of the byzantine empire the eastern orthodox church was maybe the most famous of them all.
writing
until the 7th century the byzantine empire spoke Latin until it was changed by Heracles's from Latin into Greek. as Justinian the 1th went in to rule it slowly changed into Italian. then it was not that unusual to change language
closing
now you know that the byzantine empire was the largest empire, what they used for food, and when they ruled. they had bronze and Brains and used them wisely. they maybe the most successful empire ever.
Your writing is very strong and well organized, but you are missing three paragraphs. Your grade will go up if you add those.
